VGFD & Firehouse Plaza

In 2014, FoVG leased the Firehouse and adjacent firehouse plaza from Sonoma County with the understanding that FoVG would maintain the old (1915?) firehouse and the adjacent plaza, including removal of potential wildfire fuel and keeping the property and adjacent swale free from ivy.

Since then FoVG has:

  • Reinforced the foundation, installed a new roof, waterproofed the building and painted it fire engine red
  • Added electricity for public use of the building and the adjacent plaza,  and installed a dehumidifier in order to store FoVG supplies and archival materials..
  • Removed hazardous waste, debris and invasive plants from the adjacent plaza
  • Cleared the swale and culvert to reduce flooding on West and Willow Streets
  • Built a performance stage for use by the community and residents.
