Patterson Point Preserve Update

February 25, 2025

The recent rains and flooding in the Preserve blocked the path to the northern gravel beach, making it impassible.

Coincidentally, Kaya had arranged for the Conservation Corps, North Bay (CCNB), to come to the Preserve on Monday, February 24, to help with the clearing of some invasive bays next to adjacent neighbors’ properties.  Seeing the damage and blockage of the path, CCNB began clearing the path to the gravel beach.

On Tuesday, February 25, CCNB will begin chipping the branches and debris that were brought up to the 3rd Street entrance.  If needed, chipping will continue for the rest of the week, creating chips that can be used to dress the path on Earth Day  (April 26th).

Chipping Service:  VGFD Plaza.  End of March

The Monte Rio Fire Department will be coming to the Firehouse Plaza (21950 Willow) sometime in the next two weeks to chip any branches (up to 4" in diameter) that neighbors would like to remove from their property and have chipped. Just place any branches on the pile next to the big redwood tree in the VG Firehouse Plaza.

If you’d like to see the kids and STRAW planting, stop by around 10 a.m. on Tuesday or Wednesday, March 25 or March 26.
