.Update from the Restoration Team:

The rain has impeded a lot of restoration work during the past few weeks. Keeping our heads above water, we've had to reschedule work days and the Monte Rio Elementary School/STRAW Project until March 25 & 26 (see update below).

Put in Your Calendar and Save these Dates:

Weeding Work Day (weather permitting):    Saturday, March 1.  9-11am

 .....................................

Clip and Sip:  Saturday,  March 8.  2- 4 p.m.

We’ll be hosting the end of this year’s restoration season with a “Clip and Sip” day.  Together we’ll trim the historic rose bush, clip bay and redwood suckers, and then finish with a sip of wine from local wineries. Stay tuned for more details.

STRAW and Monte Rio Elementary School:  March 25 & March 26

Thanks to a grant from the Sonoma County Water Agency,  the Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed (STRAW) will be partnering with our local Monte Rio Elementary School to plant basket sedge, ginger and sorrel in the Preserve.  If you have any of these native plants in your garden that you’re willing to donate, please send a note to Kaya, our restoration manager at pattersonpointpreserve@gmail.com.   If you’d like to see the kids and STRAW planting, stop by around 10 a.m. on Tuesday or Wednesday, March 25 or March 26.

Earth Day:  Community Clean Up:  Saturday,April 26.  10 a.m. - Noon.

We will celebrate Earth Day by cleaning  Villa Grande's open spaces: the Town Square Park, the 4th Street parking area, and the Firehouse Plaza. We'll also get ready for summer in the Preserve by spreading chips on the Patterson Point Preserve trails.

Villa Grande GMRS (Emergency Radio) TrainingMarch 4, 2024. 6 p.m.

The next session for practicing use of the GMRS radio network for Villa Grande will be 6 p.m., on Monday, March 4.   Member Jim Beck created a wonderful slide show explaining the use of GRMS radios.  You can see this slideshow at tinyurl.com/VGgmrs.  If you are interested in getting a GMRS radio and joining your neighbors in the use of the VG radio network during an emergency, just send a note to friends@villagrande.org.
