BOAT ANCHORAGE: 2025
It's time to get ready for summer fun on the river.
Current FoVG members may apply for one or two (space-permitting) spots on the heavy chain that FoVG places on our gravel beach in May. You may lock your kayak, canoe or other small watercraft to the chain. Only daylight access to the chain is allowed since overnight activities are prohibited in the Preserve. Watercraft that are not authorized or left overnight will be moved to the public right of way on 3rd Street. The cost to rent a spot on the chain from Friday May 18 to Sunday October 19 is $150 and there is no prorated rental for shorter stays. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis until all 25 spots are rented. To sign up, members fill an application form, sign a waiver of liability form, pay the $150 fee, and affix a 2025 authorization sticker to their boat.

|
Last month, STRAW (Students and Teachers Restoring A Watershed) worked with teachers and students of Monte Rio Elementary School to plant sedges and other native plants in the Preserve's swales. Rain canceled the second day. On Thursday, April 17 starting at 9 a.m. STRAW staff will return to finish the job. They could use some help if any of you are available.
